Welcome to our class blog!
Well, it has been an incredibly busy few weeks back at school, but we have thoroughly enjoyed being back - as you can see from the pictures. The children have been working so hard.
This term our class novel is 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' by Roald Dahl.
In writing, we have loved designing our own delicious, mouthwatering, scrumptious chocolate bars. Together as a class, we created a bank of high-level vocabulary to use in our expanded noun phrases. We have then further developed our sentences using a range of persuasive openers and conjunctions. We have then independently structured our very own persuasive advert using all the skills learned over the past three weeks - impressive right? Well, Mrs Taylor certainly thinks so!
In math so far, we have been developing our knowledge of place value by looking at four-digit numbers and partitioning them. We have then been plotting and estimating numbers on a number line up to the value 10,000! Yep, that's right, 10,000!
We are looking forward to more fun lessons throughout the term.
Important Information
Please could you make sure that children have their PE kits in school for the whole term. Our current PE day is a Tuesday.
Please could you also encourage children to be practicing their times tables (weekly). There is a school competition on TTRS. This is running until October and there are lots of house points up for grabs. This will also support the children with their times table check which they will be doing in the spring term.
Finally, I will be awarding children with house points based on how many times per week they have read. All children have received their diaries, and these will be checked on a Friday.
Thank you for your ongoing support, it is appreciated.
