What an amazing first week back! 

Welcome back to school. We have had an incredibly busy first week back and could not wait to show you what we have been learning so far.

In writing we have been looking at the features of a non-chronological report and researching information about dragons. Yes, that’s right dragons! We will be using this information over the next few weeks to help us structure our very own non-chronological report. In our reports we will be using a range of high-level vocabulary, fronted adverbials, and facts. We are still undecided though as to whether dragons are legends or myths.


In computing we have looked at media input and media output. During the lesson, the children have enjoyed recording their voices using different effects – we have had monsters, chipmunks, and robots and much more! It was a very enjoyable lesson, and I am sure the children are looking forward to the rest of the lessons.

 


In PSHE we have being discussing what negative and positive peer pressure is. In small groups, we have then acted out different scenarios and had class discussions using our oracy sentence stems on whether the scenario was negative peer pressure or positive peer pressure. The children thoroughly enjoyed acting out the scenarios as you can see.

In writing we have been looking at the skills we use when we write, this includes making sure we always present our work with our best handwriting, that we use the correct punctuation, and we proofread our writing to make sure it makes sense.                 Welcome to our class blog!  Well, it has been an incredibly busy few weeks back at school, but we have thoroughly enjoyed being back - as you can see from the pictures. The children have been working so hard.    This term our class novel is 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' by Roald Dahl.  In writing, we have loved designing our own delicious, mouthwatering, scrumptious chocolate bars. Together as a class, we created a bank of high-level vocabulary to use in our expanded noun phrases. We have then further developed our sentences using a range of persuasive openers and conjunctions. We have then independently structured our very own persuasive advert using all the skills learned over the past three weeks - impressive right? Well, Mrs Taylor certainly thinks so!   Bread Making Fun! At the end of last term, we were all given the opportunity to make and bake our very own bread as part of our DT topic. After we had made it, we evaluated it and carefully considered how we could improve it. All children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this lesson as you can see with the pictures. I must say, I was very impressed with everyone’s end bakes and I’m sure they enjoyed eating it too 😊
