Bread Making Fun! At the end of last term, we were all given the opportunity to make and bake our very own bread as part of our DT topic. After we had made it, we evaluated it and carefully considered how we could improve it. All children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this lesson as you can see with the pictures. I must say, I was very impressed with everyone’s end bakes and I’m sure they enjoyed eating it too 😊

Another fabulous couple of weeks!   We thoroughly enjoyed our faith walk trip to Derby at the beginning of the week. As part of the faith trail with the Open Centre, we were lucky enough to visit a Hindu Temple, a Mosque and a Sikh Gurdwara. All children behaved well and asked some brilliant questions. It was a fabulous experience for us all.  Oracy Champion of the week. As part of our oracy journey, we will be having a weekly oracy champion of the week. Being oracy champion of the week means that they have demonstrated that they are respectful listeners, have used various sentences stems when talking out loud as part of a class discussion or used the sentence stems in their work. I can’t wait to see who this week’s champion will be 😊

Welcome back everyone!                                                                 TTRS Champions!  We have had an incredibly busy week with lots of fun learning activities already completed. In writing we have been looking at the skills we use when we write, this includes making sure we always present our work with our best handwriting, that we use the correct punctuation, and we proofread our writing to make sure it makes sense. We particularly enjoyed writing with our non-dominant hand, writing with our eyes closed and writing without holding our pens correctly – this demonstrated the importance of us always writing in our best handwriting so that our writing is legible.   In math we have been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. By using counters and place value charts in our lessons, we were ab...

Open Morning!   What a very busy few weeks we have had since being back at school. Thank you to those who came to our open morning. The children were very thankful for the help with our maths problem solving quest. For each problem (five of them) the children had 10 minutes to solve the problem using all the clues they had. Each of the children shown great determination and resilience and overcome any barriers to solving the problem. Fantastic work year 4!

Do you want to build a snowman? Today, we have been out onto the field to enjoy the snow! We loved building snowmen and making snow angels! We have been incredibly busy again over the past couple of weeks. For Remembrance Day we held 2 minutes silence to show respect to those in the forces and those who have sadly lost their lives in conflict. To commemorate them, we made our very own poppy wreath. They looked great!  For Anti-bullying week we wore odd socks for the day and designed our very own pair of odd socks. As a class, we also discussed the importance of respect and how we can respect others.   For Children in Need, we came to school all spotty and sparkly for the day. The children loved watching the gladiators’ completing activities for charity live on the BBC.

What an amazing first week back!   Welcome back to school. We have had an incredibly busy first week back and could not wait to show you what we have been learning so far. In writing we have been looking at the features of a non-chronological report and researching information about dragons. Yes, that’s right dragons! We will be using this information over the next few weeks to help us structure our very own non-chronological report. In our reports we will be using a range of high-level vocabulary, fronted adverbials, and facts. We are still undecided though as to whether dragons are legends or myths. In computing we have looked at media input and media output. During the lesson, the children have enjoyed recording their voices using different effects – we have had monsters, chipmunks, and robots and much more! It was a very enjoyable lesson, and I am sure the children are looking forward to the rest of the lessons.   In PSHE we have being discussin...

Developing our oracy skill was so much fun! Oracy skills are a vital part of learning, and it is important that we develop our speaking and listening skills from a young age. So, this week we have tried a few new activities to help develop our listening and speaking skills. In reading, we have been looking at simple pictures and discussing what could be happening in the picture. Once we have discussed our initial thoughts, the title is then revealed to see if this gives any more clues, the children have then had more time to discuss the picture and answer the prompting questions. This activity proved very popular with our class, and we look forward to developing our oracy and inference skills further. Another activity we have done was based around giving clear instructions to their partners. Partner A had to speak clearly and give detailed instructions on how to draw the exact same house that they had drawn, and Partner B had to listen carefully and draw the house (without tr...
